Look at the other side of the fence as well: Lee
Brett Lee says he's not surprised by the current England team's success in the last few years and thereby its ascension to the top position in the ICC Test match rankings.
“It's a terrible feeling to lose the series 0-4; it will hurt India. As we found out in the 2005 Ashes series; in home conditions the England bowlers were good at swing and seam.
“One would point fingers at India, but look at the other side of the fence as well; England has played some very, very good cricket. I think they (India) will bounce back.
“They are coming to Australia soon and I hope the series turns out to be competitive. I am not playing the Test series though,” said the 34-year-Australian fast bowler, who is here to launch the Brett Lee Active Wear collection.
Lee seemed to be in favour of the captain and coach getting a vote in the five-member selection panel.
“I am not an expert. If it's going to improve Australian cricket then I feel it's a win-win situation. In many other sports the captain-coach duo plays a vital role. To me it makes sense. The captain is a qualified person for the job and Michael Clarke and the coach can make a direct impact on team selection.”
Touching upon the workload taken by a fast bowler he said: “It's really hard. When you land on your front-foot, you land with 15 times your body weight. There's lot of pressure. It's hard work in hot and gruelling conditions, but it's also a lot of fun. You have to be strong and fit. You have to train hard and enjoy the game.”
